In June 2022, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years since she was first crowned on the 2nd of June 1953.
This impressive achievement makes Elizabeth II the longest-reigning monarch in British history, and the longest-reigning female monarch of all time. Brits will be celebrating with an extended bank holiday, plenty of street parties, and a special Trooping the Color parade.
Taking the top spot for the longest-reigning monarch in history is Louis XIV who reigned over the country of France for 72 years and 110 days, followed closely by Bhumibol Adulyadej who reigned over Thailand for 70 years and 126 days. Her Majesty The Queen is currently the third longest-reigning monarch in history.
